Practicing yoga and Pilates has been shown to be beneficial to your health, including helping to reduce lower back pain. If you're interested in how this option can help you, you may be wondering how much time you will need to devote to experience its benefits.
Good news... Just one yoga or Pilates class per week is enough!
A study comparing one yoga session to two sessions showed that they had equal benefits for lower back pain.
The researchers in Boston had 95 low-income adults with moderate to severe lower back pain and assigned each to a group to attend a yoga class, either scheduled once or twice a week. They followed participants for 12 weeks, both groups were also asked to do yoga at home.
The results showed yoga had positive effects on pain relief, every individual reported less back pain and some also reduced pain killers. One thing which was surprising was there were no substantial differences between the once a week and the twice a week group.
The key to improvement is sticking to recommendations for stretches and exercise, just like Chiropractic care. We must always remember that healing is a process which takes time but is worth the investment ten times over!
