FAQs

What should I bring to my first appointment?

For your first visit, please bring any relevant medical records, a list of current medications, and any X-rays or MRI reports you may have. Comfortable clothing is recommended for your initial consultation visit but is not a must.

What happens at my initial consultation?

Prior to your first visit, we will require some information from you. You will be emailed online forms to complete. When you arrive at the practice you be welcomed by one of our friendly receptionist team. Your chiropractor will greet you and take you through to discuss the reasons for your visit and go through an examination. X-rays may be taken if clinically indicated.

How does chiropractic care benefit overall wellness?

Chiropractic care goes beyond just addressing pain or injuries. Regular adjustments can enhance your overall well-being by improving spinal health, which in turn can positively affect your nervous system (the master controller of the body), your balance and co-ordination and even mental clarity. Many patients report feeling more balanced, less stressed, and experiencing better sleep.

Can chiropractic care help with headaches or migraines?

Yes, chiropractic care can be effective for managing headaches and migraines. Misalignments in the spine, particularly in the neck, can contribute to tension and trigger headaches. Our chiropractors use gentle adjustments to realign the spine, which can reduce the frequency and severity of headaches.

Is chiropractic treatment safe during pregnancy?

Absolutely! Chiropractic care is safe and beneficial for pregnant women. It can help alleviate common pregnancy-related discomforts like back pain, sciatica, and pelvic misalignment. Our chiropractors are trained to use techniques that are specifically adapted for pregnant patients, and we have a pregnancy cushion which allows for lying on your front without placing pressure on your bump! Chiropractic care is a great way to prepare for and aid recovery after delivery of your baby. Research has shown chiropractic reduces labour times and improves the ease of delivery.

How often should I visit the chiropractor?

The frequency of visits varies depending on your exam results, health goals, and how your body responds to treatment. Some benefit from weekly visits, while others may only need adjustments once a month or even less frequently. From your initial consultation, your chiropractor will develop a personalised care plan that outlines the recommended frequency of visits.

Do you offer care for children and infants?

Yes, we do! Chiropractic care is safe for all ages, including infants and children. Paediatric chiropractic care can help with various issues, such as colic, feeding or latching issues, and even sleep disturbances. Our gentle techniques ensure that your child receives the safest and most effective care. We have taken care of newborns, literally from the day after birth.

Can chiropractic care help with posture correction?

Poor posture can lead to a range of health issues, including back pain, neck pain, and even reduced lung capacity. Chiropractic care can help correct postural imbalances through spinal adjustments and simple exercises that strengthen the muscles supporting your spine. Over time, this can lead to better posture and reduced discomfort.

What is the difference between chiropractic care and physiotherapy?

While both chiropractic care and physiotherapy aim to improve physical function and relieve pain, they approach it differently. Chiropractic care focuses on spinal alignment and its impact on the nervous system, using adjustments to correct misalignments. Physiotherapy, on the other hand, typically involves exercises and manual therapy to rehabilitate injured tissues and improve mobility. Depending on your needs, a combination of both therapies might be recommended. It is fine to have physiotherapy and chiropractic care at the same time.

Will I need X-rays before starting treatment?

Not all patients require X-rays before starting treatment. X-rays are typically recommended if there is a history of trauma, unexplained pain, or if your chiropractor suspects a condition that needs further investigation. If necessary, we will discuss the need for X-rays during your initial consultation. We have x-ray facilities at both of our clinics.

Can chiropractic care help with sports injuries?

Yes, chiropractic care is highly effective for treating sports injuries. Whether it’s a sprain, strain, or more chronic issue, our chiropractors can help reduce pain, improve mobility, and accelerate healing. We also offer preventative care to reduce the risk of future injuries and work with many different professional athletes to ensure they’re performing at their peak.

How long are the adjustments?

Getting adjusted doesn’t take long as we only work with the joints which are not functioning correctly, typically the adjustments take between 2-5 minutes.

How can I book appointments for my family and friends?
